“Why are people looking down on us?”This was the question my girlfriend asked me today. You see, we are in a long-distance relationship. She lives in New York while I live in Cali. We also have an age difference of 4 years. People would say we are desperate. They would say that she has an immature mind and is too young to understand real relationships. They would say I am just playing her or using her for my own personal gain. People continue to spread hate because others are different, because we are different. It’s something they are not used to or they do not understand so they choose to respond negatively to it. I told her this in response to her question…
“Because of our age difference, that’s all. It’s unusual for a couple like us to be successful which makes people judge us. But they don’t understand. We actually love one another. I love you just as you love me. People who hate will never truly accept our choice to be together, but honestly, who cares? It’s all about me and you. When the time comes, we’ll prove them all wrong. “
